Its address could not be more fashionable, located atop the Theatre des Champs-Elysees within an architectural exoskeleton created to maximize the penthouse views while adding a provocative design statement to an otherwise noble turn-of-the-century landmark. From afar it looks like a spaceship that is permanently docked atop one of the top Paris theaters, framed in floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the distant arrondisements and Paris landmarks. The interior space is constructed over two levels with sedate dining room of creamy-leather wooden chairs and clean tabletops that do not distract from the skyline views. A separate White Room is a private dining space prone to avant-garde art and fashion parties that spill over to the all-new White Bar with its sleek design by a recently independent Philippe Starck disciple.

The Food

Specializing in Southeastern French cuisine from the Languedoc region, the kitchen of this ever-hip dining scene does not always get its due props. Amongst a palette of uber-minimalist décor, a pristine menu of French delicacies begins with homemade puree soups like artichoke and asparagus, lobster salad and thinly sliced tuna or salmon carpaccio. Entrees are more lavish with hearty rack of lamb with potato gratin, sea scallops braised in cider and grilled fillet with dipping sauce. Fish selections change with the local markets varying between organic wild tilapia to crusted swordfish with sesame-seed drizzle.

Last Word

Architectural rooftop eatery is prime grazing ground for Paris fashion elite and local businessmen on gourmand power lunches.
